Discussion on the gadgets used today for turning the bath into a luxurious modern spa for a soothing and therapeutic retreat.

By Doran Roggio

The modern bath is more than a place to bathe and groom. Bathrooms have become a retreat from the stresses of the mundane. For many, the bath is the only place one can enjoy a few hours of private time. Baths are now designed with the comforts and therapeutic benefits of a spa.

Luxuriating in the bubble bath with the sensual scent and glow of aromatherapy candles is the new indulgent pastime. Imagine stepping out of the bath onto a soothing, warm tile floor, then reaching up and grabbing a cozy, heated towel from its rack.

The latest trend in redesigning the bath is creating an environment for both physical and spiritual rejuvenation. Whirlpools, steam showers, towel warmers, warming floors, steam-free mirrors, chromatherapy, bathroom entertainment centers and bath fireplaces are just some of the innovative gadgets that have made the modern bath into a home spa where one can relax the body and enliven the spirit.

When redesigning the bath into a home spa, decisions can be as simple as choosing new colors and as complex as deciding to install an electric warming floor. There is a wide array of modern gadgets for the bath, many of which are designed to fill the new demand for a spa like atmosphere.

Ultra-Luxurious Modern Gadgets For Today’s Bathrooms

Steam Shower
For centuries steam baths have been used to promote good health.. Now one can enjoy a sumptuous steam bath, a full-dimensional back massage and experience a multi-head shower, all from the same unit, not much larger than a conventional showerhead. The Steam Shower unit ranges in style from contemporary to elegant. Units can even be equipped with a radio, phone, remote control, and connections for a CD player.

Warming Floor
Remember that chilling feeling stepping out of the bath onto a cold floor. Today’s solution is the Electric Warming Floor, which not only will warm the cold tile floor but also fills the entire bathroom with warmth. Imagine never having to experience stepping barefoot on a cold tile floor again. The Electric Warming Floor is energy efficient, relatively easy to install and entirely safe.

Steam-Free Mirror
One can now purchase electric bathroom mirror defoggers. A defogger is set to come on with the bathroom light switch. The system then produces a warming action that prevents steam from forming on the mirror. No longer does one have to wipe or blow-dry the mirror in order to see their image.

Bathtubs and Whirlpools
Imagine climbing into a bathtub that is padded and cushioned to be ultra soft and comfortable. And the best part, the more hot water fills the bath the softer it becomes.

How about a cozy bath for two for those romantic moments? The bathtub for two does have its drawbacks, however, in that it will use a great deal of water.

Whirlpools baths come in a great array of sizes and shapes to add to your home spa environment. Whirlpools can be gotten with air jets or water jets each offering different advantages.
So indulgent has the whirlpool bath become it can now be equipped with a home entertainment unit. The La Scala whirlpool is complete with a home theater surround and entertainment system right in the your own bath. Enjoy a soothing massage while enjoying the highest quality motion picture entertainment. Added enhances, such as a floating remote control, underwater lighting, and ten fully adjustable jets affords the ultimate in soothing relaxation.

Multiple Showerheads
Instead of the conventional showerhead, one can now install a series of whirlpool jets and arrange them vertically in a shower-like enclosure. Multiple showerheads can be used separately or all at the same time. Banish stress with an invigorating hydrotherapy massage.

Chrometherapy.
Chrometherapy, a branch of holistic healing, uses the seven colors of the rainbow to promote balance and healing in the mind and body.

To complete a regenerating home spa atmosphere, you can now buy chrometherapy baths, shower systems, and sinks with chrometherapy options. These systems provide a spectrum of color with the touch of a button for an enhanced bathing experience.

Without a doubt there is a great range of options now available to transform the ordinary bathroom into a luxurious, and therapeutic retreat. There will be many challenging decisions to make. Lighting, colors, fixtures, conveniences, and costs, are some of the factors you will need to ponder. Well thought out planning will enable you to design a beautiful, and functional home spa environment that will provide the ultimate luxuriation.

The 21st century bathroom has become a retreat from the stresses of the mundane. Often it is the only place where one can spend a few hours of private time. The latest trend in designing the bath is in creating an environment for both physical and spiritual rejuvenation. There is a wide array of ultra-luxurious gadgets for the bath, many of which are designed to fill the new demand for a spa like atmosphere.

Ideas for the unique gift that sends the message of love and appreciation. Finding the right hand made gift is a challenge. Here are some tips on why and where handcrafted gifts are the right choice.

by Doran Roggio

Are you trying to find the perfect gift to make someone feel special? Have you given thought to giving a handmade gift? Why would a gift that has been handcrafted be so endearing to the receiver?

Think how you would you feel with a beautiful piece of art that is rare or even one of a kind? Picture a splendid handmade leather belt with a custom handcrafted jeweled buckle. What a conversation piece to have a rare glass or wood art handicraft from another part of the world. Can you see how the uniqueness alone makes a handmade gift a great choice for the ones you care about?

Express Your Feelings With A Unique Handmade Gift

Custom handmade gifts can often be made to your liking. Artists may sell a handmade gift that is one of a kind, at the very least exceptionally rare. Often the handmade gift will come with a certificate of authenticity which tells the artist’s history and information about the materials used in the crafting of the work of art.

A handmade gift reveals that you put some thought into your gift selection; for this reason alone the gift will be more appreciated. Isn’t that what gift giving is all about, finding just the right gift for the special individuals. When choosing a gift aren’t you wanting to convey a deep emotion?

It many just be that you are saying ‘thank you’ for a kind act. Or perhaps you are giving the love of your life a gift that conveys the depth of your emotion. And what of making Mom know she’s the best Mother in the world. Whatever the reason, a handmade gift can express the emotion so capably.

There are beautiful handcrafted gifts in such abundance that it is impossible not to find that perfect unique gift for your family and friends.

Custom Handmade Jewelry

Talented artists design and assemble a wide variety of jewelry and accessories, such as necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, brooches, and belt buckles in a marvelous array of sizes, shapes, colors and textures. Imagine the complements one might receive donning an unusual piece of custom handmade jewelry.

The material used in the making of handcrafted jewelry can include amber, amethyst, aquamarine, coral, garnet, turquoise, mother of pearl, and other semiprecious stones. Unlike mass produced jewelry which are generally crafted in gold, silver, and platinum, custom handmade jewelry can also include bronze, copper, pewter and other metals. Handcrafted jewelry may even be crafted with wood, leather and even plastics.

Hand Tooled Full Grain Leather Gifts

A handmade gift out of leather is always a good choice. The handtooled leather belt is a dying tradition and a handtooled belt is truly a rare gift. With a handtooled leather gift meticulous attention is given to detail and every design is a little different. Other handmade leather items include watchbands, wristbands, hair accessories, wallets, money clips and purses available in a wide variety of styles, designs, and widths and many of these items can be personalized with a name or initials.

Custom Handmade Handwoven Baskets

Handmade baskets are generally woven with the finest quality natural rattan reed. Baskets will compliment a home and office decor. Unlike ordinary off-the-shelf baskets, handmade baskets can often be designed exclusively by you, allowing you to choose the style, dimensions, reed and stain colors. Baskets make a great gift because they are functional in the home as well as a decor.

Choose From A Variety Of Handmade Gifts

Handmade gifts have seen an increase in popularity in recent years. Besides the handmade gifts discussed one can choose from handicrafts such as wood art, bottle art, paintings, dried flowers, bead work, pottery, and the list continues.

Pieces from other cultures make a great choice for gifts that are appreciated. You could give a handmade gift from a different country on every occasion to that special someone and help them start an artistic collection of diverse cultures.

Where to Purchase Handmade Gifts

It used to require a great deal of time and effort to find a shop with a diverse selection of unique handmade gifts. With the popularity of the Internet one can now obtain a limitless variety of custom handmade items from around the globe.

Hand crafted gifts range from inexpensive to very costly generally depending on the materials used, the originality and intricacies of the item and the location where the piece was created. The advantage of purchasing these items online is that you minimize the cost of overhead and get more value for your dollar.

In conclusion, handicrafts make wonderful gifts because of their uniqueness, beauty and cultural individuality. The best place for variety and value is to purchase these items online. If you are looking for the perfect gift that conveys your affection try giving a unique handmade gift. It is bound to bring appreciation from the receiver.

How to tell products are non-toxic and some homemade cleaning products that work.

by Doran Roggio

Conventional cleaning products emit volatile gases into your home polluting the air that you breathe. The toxic chemicals produce high pollutant levels that can remain in the home long after product use. For a safer home, greener environment, and optimum health for your family, there are safer choices for cleaning products.

You put yourself at risk for a any number of adverse health conditions when using toxic cleaners. Skin rashes, eye infections, breathing problems, as well as some cancers have been linked to the toxic chemicals emitted from these products.

With the emphasis on green living more products are becoming available which are non-toxic. It is crucial that you read labels. The government restrictions are so vague that a product may say ‘natural’ and apply to just about anything. Terms such as eco-friendly and ‘non-toxic’ are equally obscure. For tools on evaluating product labels visit www.greenerchoices.org.

Another way to ensure safer products is to make your own. This is an economical way to approach green cleaning. White vinegar is non-toxic and kills bacteria and germs. A mixture of 50/50 with water will clean nearly any surface. Placing a bowl of vinegar in a room will safely remove odors.

Baking soda can be used in place of harsh cleaners. Pour a few tablespoons of baking soda into the kitchen drain and follow with a half cup of vinegar. Let sit for 10 minutes and flush with warm water. This will prevent clogged drains and leave a clean smell.

Both lemon juice and vinegar can be used for bleaching stains out of clothes. Borax and vegetables soaps are ingredients safe for laundry mixes. Recipes can be found online. Polishing wood furniture can be done efficiently with a cheap grade of olive oil.

Whether you choose to purchase commercial products or make your own, opting for non-toxic cleaners will preserve the environment and minimize pollutants in your home.

How would you like to take the possessions others throwaway and turn in into a money generating business? This article will show you how to turn trash into a treasure.

You’ve heard the expression, “One man’s junk is anther’s man treasure”. What if you could take the junk (throwaways) of others and turn it into a literal treasure; a money generating business? This article will show you how to do just that. And you could start earning cash right away.

What Will You Need

Although you could manage without one, it is to your advantage to own a truck, SUV or van. The larger vehicle will allow you to collect larger items which can earn you greater profits, for example, furniture and large appliances.

A garage or basement for storage is a plus allowing you to gather items as you see them and not just collect and sell immediately. A computer with internet access and a digital camera would provide added resources for generating revenue. Later I will explain how you can use the internet to generate income.

Where To Find Marketable Throwaways

To begin finding throwaways that you can turn into cash profit, start by advertising on bulletin boards and in free ads that you will haul away the contents of basements and attics for free or a small fee. Many times Individuals will be happy to pay a modest fee to have these areas cleaned out. This is especially true when persons are moving from one location to another and are not taking everything.

Watch the local ads for yard sales & estate sales. Stop by the sales and leave a business card, offering to haul away yard sale remains for free. Although there are charities that these items can be donated to, if you are ready and able to provide the convenience of collecting these items, the home owner will be delighted to have it out of their hands. You can also find merchandise at these sales for a nominal fee that be resold for a cash profit. Charity sales, library sales, and church bazaars often have nice marketable items that you can turn around and sell that will cost you very little out of pocket money.

For example, I once purchased an out of print book at a library sale for a dime and later sold it for $80.00 on eBay. Obviously, all your profit margin will not be that great, but the possibility of a good profit exists.

Leave business cards with local estate sales dealers. It may be more difficult to haul away the left overs of estate sales, but not impossible. Not all estate sales items are antiques and there are throwaways that will need to be cleared out.

Thrift Stores often have end of season sales where you can pick up marketable items for minimal cost. Some have bag days where you fill a bag for a few dollars. How much can you get in a bag? A ‘Good Will’ store I stopped in one day was selling boxes of old books for 5 cents each. I got a box full and sold nearly all of them for anywhere to a few dollars apiece up to twenty some bucks each.

Near the end of the month, start checking out the trash in apartment complexes. This is a great place to find furniture, appliances, exercise equipment and small items such as music tapes and books. Even clothes that are thrown out and cleaned can be marketed if quality brands and good condition.

Dumpsters behind stores and shopping centers can be resourceful. Many large department stores throw out items that may slightly flawed which you can still sell for cash. In time you will know which store dumpsters will be productive.

County Dumps can be a great place for finding all kind of junk you can turn into trash. It is wise to be aware of the county laws. Some areas may not allow you to go through the dump and may impose fines.

How To Generate Income

You can charge a modest fee for the hauling, however, there are also numerous other ways to earn cash. Online auctions, like eBay will be great for some of the items. Register with eBay as a seller. You will have to put a credit card on file. If you open a PayPal account you can collect payments immediately. You can do that at www.paypal.com

Once registered as a seller you will be able to check on items that have previously sold and the selling price giving you an educated guess at the items value. EBay has easy to understand instructions and live chat support. Getting started will not be difficult, but take it slow, and see how the process works. You will want to start off with small items first until you build some positive feedback. EBay buyers will not pay a good price on a large item for a new seller. Save the larger items until you have at least fifty or more positive feedback in order to get a good price. EBay has listing and closing fees.

Periodic yard sales can be another way to generate cash. How often you would have a sale would depend on how much junk you collected. I know some who have them weekly while others do it monthly or less frequent.

Flea Market Stands generally draw a big crowd. You will have the overhead of the stand rental fee. There are Flea Market Circuits across the nation. Do an internet search for Flea Market Listings.

Consignment shops can be profitable. Furniture, clothing, books, cd’s and more can be marketed at specialized consignment stores. These stores can take as much as 40% commission, but they can generally get a good price.

If you are a little creative and have a garage or basement, you could take furniture and repair it (if needed) and then resell. Paint a piece in some unusual and creative fashion and sell it as a one-of-a-kind designer piece with a certificate never to be duplicated. That way you could sell the piece for a large amount of cash.

Still other items may be traded for services provided. The barter system works well and you will be collecting any number of items that may be useful to someone else.

Lastly, there will be some junk that will have no value to you. Take these items to a community center, Salvation Army or a charity of your choice. You can get a tax receipt and take a deduction for the value of the items.

This is a real business. Keep records. Pay taxes. Each state is different. Familiarize yourself with the laws in your area. You may have to collect sales tax. You may need to obtain a business license, most areas it is only $25.00 or $50.00 a year. Check zoning laws if you are going to work out of your home.

With a little time and effort and a whole lot of creativity you can turn another man’s junk into a treasure trove of cash. Have fun and prosper.

6 Secret household tips that can save you money in these hard economic times leaving some cash left for family fun.

© Doran Roggio 2007

Being a single mother and the sole breadwinner of my household there were small tasks I learned to do that would stretch the dollar and afford my children and I more enjoyment from my earnings. In today’s hard economical times these invaluable intents can benefit everyone in making financial ends meet.

Here are 6 household tips that can save you money. These small concerns with economizing will afford you some money left in the budget for pleasure in spite of the economic pressures.

1. Buy Generic and Reuse Vacuum Cleaner Bags

Brand names vacuum bags are way over priced and not necessary for efficient cleaning. Generic bags are just as efficient and can be purchased as inexpensively as 2 or 3 bags for $1.00 at various dollar store franchises. If you do not mind getting your hands a little soiled these bags can be easily reused.

When the bag is full, place a few sheets of newspaper on the floor to collect the dirt. Wear a pair of rubber gloves (surgical gloves work great) for sanitary purposes. Remove the bag from vacuum. Hold the bag with opening close to the newspaper and proceed to pull the dust out. The dust will pull out in clumps until you get closer to empty when all that remains will be loose dirt. Don’t bother with the loose dirt. There will be very little and it will cause too much dust to remove.

Place the bag back in the vacuum and discard of the dirt. This process can be repeated until the bag gets weak or tears. Generally, vacuum bags can be reused at least 2 or 3 times. Your cost of vacuum cleaner bags will go down considerably saving you even more change to put in a fund for fun.

2. Use White Vinegar To Cut Costs On Cleaning Supplies

Cleaning supplies can be very costly. An efficient way to save money is to use white vinegar for your household cleaning. With a 50/50 solution of white vinegar in a spray bottle you can clean almost everything in your home. Toilets, tubs and sinks will not only be cleaned but sanitized as well.

This same solution will help to minimize food bacteria on kitchen counters and leave the kitchen shiny clean and aid in eliminating odors.

If you prefer a sudsy cleaner you can add a drop or two of dishwashing liquid but no more. If you add suds you will need to keep a separate bottle for cleaning glass and mirrors. Suds will tend to smear on the glass and leave a film.

White vinegar and water will also remove stains from carpets and clothes. Do not use on bright colors without testing an inconspicous area first. Weaken the solution to 25 vinegar /75 water for colored items as white vinegar has a mild bleaching effect.

3. Wash Ironing Board Covers

Family ironing can pile up quickly and spray starch can build up on your ironing board cover. Don’t just throw away and replace covers when starch builds up. Covers can wash repeatedly for extended use, however, I suggest you invest in a quality (middle priced, not the cheapest covers). Better quality will ensure a cover that will not slipp on the board and hold up after many washings.

You can extend the life of the cover by first turning it inside out and using the other side when the starch builds up and cover becomes tacky. By using both sides you will not have to wash as often.

4. Darn Runners In Nylon Stockings and Socks For Longer Wear

The costant replacement of nylon stockings can be very costly. A trick is to sew the runners. It takes only a few moments. Carry clear nail polish in your purse. When a runner starts stop it immediately with the nail polish. At home take a few minutes to sew up several pair at a time (tv time is good).

You will need a thin needle, thread matched closely to the color of the stockings and a darning mushroom (lightbulb works fine). Slip the light bulb or darning mushroom into the stocking and wrap material around snugly and sew with overlapping stiches, only taking up what is needed in order to keep the line as neat as possible.

If the runner is below the skirt line, repair them as well and wear these particular stockings under your slacks, using the ones with runners higher up for skirts. You will get amazed how much money you will save with this trick. Socks can be easily darned in the same fashion when a small hole appears.

5. Use Less Laundry Soap For Less Fading and Money Saving

When doing laundry there are always those items that are not very soiled. I hate to wear anything more than once which could cost a great deal in water and soap. Generally I am washing out sweat or just bringing back shape to items I have worn for a few hours. The items are not laden with dirt.

While you would not want to do this with heavily soiled kids clothes, with clothes that are not really dirty you can cut back on some of the soap use. The money savings is twofold. Your dark colors will not fade as quickly and you will save on the cost of laundry detergent. Experiment with how much to cut back. If the clothes are not very soiled you can cut back as much as half and still have fresh, clean clothes.

6. Freshen Faded Clothes with Tintex or Ritz

You buy a costly pair of black slacks for work and a few months of washing and the black is beginning to look faded. Soon you decide they are too dingy to wear to work and go shopping for a new pair. A few dollars for Tintex or Ritz clothing dye with bring the color up to par.

Dyeing is relatively simple and can be done in the washing machine, bathtub, or in a large pot. With the price you pay for a new skirt, blouse, dress or pair of slacks it is well worth your time and couple of bucks to dye those faded items and renew the color for extended wear.

A Little Thriftiness Adds Up To Savings

You will find these ideas, though seeming small will add up to significant savings. So apply, put aside the money saved, and take the family out for an day of entertainment.

Tips on ways to use Permanent Markers for small repairs and crafts around the home.

Sharpie Permanent Markers are so versatile I wonder how I ever got along with out them. The markers come in a vast array of types, with different tip sizes, dissimilar shapes, and assorted colors providing countless uses. The Sharpie marker ink is fade and water-resistant and dries quickly.

One can tackle any number of arts and crafts projects successfully due to the versatility of the Sharpie Permanent Markers. Not so common usages for Sharpie Markers involve repairs to home and personal care items. It is the author’s intention to elucidate both common and not so common usages.

The varied types of Sharpie Permanent Markers allow for excellent results within specific projects. For example, one marker does a superb job of labeling cd’s while yet another family of markers are best used for designing and creating flip charts.

One group of Sharpie markers is actually a paint marker. The resulting effect using the Sharpie paint markers would be much the same as if you were to actually paint a project with far less mess.

You can even get a Sharpie Permanent Marker with a retractable top with no cap to misplace. The benefit to you is no dried out tips from losing or forgetting to replace caps. Sharpie highlighters are just as varied with tips that range from thin to thick and are available in blue, yellow, green, and shades of blue. Whatever the writing projects, there undoubtedly is a Sharpie Permanent Marker that will do the job well.

Many of the Sharpie markers come in a mini size for portability The mini-Sharpies are equipped with a cap ring for attaching to a key chain, golf bag, purses, backpacks, or even attached to a belt loop.

Common Uses for Sharpie Permanent Markers

I use the Sharpie highlighters when I am reading to mark points of interest. Sometimes I use more than one color in order to make note of certain phrases for different projects. For example if I just want to focus on the particular point, I use a yellow marker. If I want to note a fact for research to utilize in an article, I mark it in pink for quick referencing.

Sharpie laundry markers are great for labeling my granddaughter’s clothing and book bags. With a Sharpie permanent marker, I label her lunch boxes, toys, books, and whatever she carries out of the home.

When going to potluck dinners and family gatherings I use my Sharpie marker to label the food containers. In addition, in the kitchen I use a Sharpie permanent marker to label frozen foods with the product and date.

In the office, I use different tipped permanent markers for addressing envelopes and packages. I use a fine point for the envelopes and a medium for packages so the print is larger and easily read. I do not worry if the packages arrive during inclement weather; the water resistant marker prevents smudging.

On holidays, it is festive to use different colors for signing cards and addressing envelopes. For example, at Christmas, I use red, green and metallic silver and gold markers. For Easter, the markers in shades of purple, pink and yellow add a nice touch to your mail.

Not So Well Know Uses for Sharpie Permanent Markers

Sharpie Permanent Markers can be an invaluable tool for all kinds of household repairs and save you money. If you shop yard sales and flea markets, you will no doubt have brought home furniture or household accessories for a bargain. Perhaps the item has a paint scratch or is faded in spots. Sharpie Permanent Markers are all you will need to make a quick and efficient repair. With the wide assortment of colors available, you can match almost anything.

I once repaired worn spots on a rattan dinette set by utilizing two marker colors. I had purchased the set at a considerable discount because there were some faded areas. I dug out my magic Sharpie markers and was able to repair the flaws by using a black and dark brown marker together to blend the colors. The repair was so well matched I have yet to find the retouched areas.

Picture frames are another item I regularly repair with Sharpie permanent markers. Often at estate sales, I find exquisite picture frames. Generally, the frames will be faded or worn. I whip out my collection of Sharpie markers and make my repairs. Once again, the touch-up jobs are barely perceivable.

What you can touch up with Sharpie permanent markers is an almost endless list. I have touched up porcelain candleholders, furniture (on uphostlstered be careful to do so in light easy steps to prevent running) , pottery, leather belts, purses, and even nicked and faded areas on my favorite shoes.

Cloth items can be colored, and repaired with Sharpies. I once ruined a leopard upholstered seat cover with bleach splatter. It was a very unusual chair and I was in tears, as I thought it to be ruined. In desperation, I reached for my faithful Sharpie markers and worked at the leopard spots with black, tan and brown colors until I was able to repair the seat so well I am the only one who identifies the corrected spots.

Without a doubt, I would be totally lost without my markers. I buy them in packs of ten or more in order to have enough colors on hand for quick touch ups. I think of my markers as my doctor’s bag for household mishaps. I recommend Sharpie Permanent Markers for art, writing, office and household projects. For a nominal investment, you will have a simple but efficient tool.

8 Tips for a Shiny, Sanitary, and Pleasant Smelling Toilet

It’s a dirty task but you have to do it. With this method the nasty task of cleaning the toilet can be mastered efficiently and quickly.

8 Tips for a Shiny, Sanitary, and Pleasant Smelling Toilet

1. Spray the inside of the bowl, under the rim, behind the seat and around the bottom with an all purpose cleaner (mix of 50/50 white vinegar and water works great). Spray only enough around the outside to dampen the soiled area but not make a mess.

2. Let sit for 2 minutes to loosen dirt. Put on rubber gloves and dig out your toilet brush and some paper towels. You want a brand of paper towels that are strong (Bounty or Brawny work well).

3. Using the brush scrub around the rim of the bowl, be sure to get all the way under the rim where the black mold clings. Then finish cleaning the bowl reaching with the brush way down as far as you can go to get stubborn stains.

4. Run the brush around back of toilet seat. Be sure to run bristles around edges of bolt caps where the nasty stains build up. You want your brush damp but not excessively wet.

5. Run the brush around the bottom of the toilet. Again you will want to get close to the bolt caps with a damp but not wet brush.

6. Tear off a couple of sheets of paper towels (2 or 3 sheets is sufficient) and dampen. With seat lifted wipe the edge of the bowl and under side of seat. Lower seat and wipe top with paper towel. Close lid and wipe top of lid. Rinse paper towel in hot water.

7. Wipe behind the seat. Rinse. Now wipe down the rest of the toilet bowl around the outside, the tank, handle, bottom and behind toilet. If the paper towel breaks up, start over with a few more sheets. Rinse when needed.

8. After you have wiped it all down with damp paper towels, wipe seat, lid and tank top with dry paper towel and run dry towel over chrome handle to shine. Flush toilet.

Once you master the process you should only use about 6-8 sheets of paper towels. If desired you can do it with a rag, I just like to dispose of what I use on toilets.

If all steps are followed you now have a shiny, clean and sanitary toilet. The added benefit with using the white vinegar is no urine odor is left behind. All this should take 5-7 minutes tops. Now that wasn’t so bad after all, was it?

I've learned that Lemon Oil furniture polish has many household usages besides polishing furniture.

by Doran Roggio

Cleaning professionally, I’ve learned that Lemon Oil furniture polish has many household usages besides polishing furniture.

Of course Lemon Oil is excellent for protecting your low luster furniture. The oil leaves a beautiful shine, and prevents fine wood finishes from drying out. Choose a brand of lemon oil that does not contain waxes, silicone, or harmful solvents. Several of the popular brands have a sunscreen to keep your furniture from fading.

Don’t put oil directly on the furniture. Pour a small amount of oil on a soft, non-abrasive cloth (old t-shirts or cloth diapers work great) and apply to the surface. Avoid using lemon oil on high gloss veneers.

Around the house, lemon oil is invaluable. An oil treated cloth will quickly wipe away tarnish on silver and brass and is great for removing greasy fingerprints off the microwave door.

On heavily soiled surfaces such as plastic-laminated surfaces, fiberglass shower stalls and glass shower doors spray a small amount of lemon oil before spraying with your all purpose cleaner. The lemon oil penetrates deeper and loosens the dirt. The combination of oil & all purpose cleaner will save time and elbow grease.

The cleaning products made specifically for stainless steel are all oil based. A lemon-oiled cloth will clean your stainless to a spot free shine and eliminate the need for another product.

Those stubborn scuff marks on floors can be removed easily with lemon oil. Spray a little oil on the scuff and mop. For harder to remove scuffs rub with sponge then mop.

Lemon oil is great for removing glue residue. Use it to loosen price stickers on hard surfaces. Great for tags on hard cover books too.

Those old musty items that you have stored in the basement can be wiped with your oiled cloth. The oil will help to wipe off the mildew and leave a pleasant citrus fragrant.

Even vinyl and leather items can be cleaned with your lemon-oiled cloth. The oil may darken the color. Test an inconspicuous spot.

When using lemon oil ‘less is best’. Treat a cloth with a small amount and keep it in a plastic baggie. It will go a long way.

Today you can purchase lemon oil in pre-moistened wipes, however the wipes can be messy and expensive. Use caution with store-bought wipes on leather or shower stalls as they may contain an excess of oil. With your own lemon-oiled cloths you will have more control and save money.
